Dick Hyman's Instantaneous composition "Finding Three or More NINAs"
On June 10th, legendary jazz pianist Dick Hyman joined Louise Hirschfeld and David Leopold for a night of "Drawing Music" at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Billed as "Hyman's Piano Meets Hirschfeld's pen," the evening was a wonderful combination of story and song with Dick playing songs by Gershwin, Sondheim, Ellington and Waller, interspersed with stories about Hirschfeld and his work by Louise and David. As the evening was coming to a close, Dick sponteously introduced a composition inspired by everyone's favorite game associated with Hirschfeld's art: finding NINAs.
