The Al Hirschfeld Foundation Returns to California For Another Pop Up Gallery

We are pleased to partner again with Stuart Ng Booksto bring a one night only exhibition and sale to the Los Angeles area this Tuesday, November 13th. There will be more than 100 original drawings and paintings on view that span eight decades including works ranging from a wonderful illustrated "True Map Of Ye Summer Theatres Situated 45 Minutes And More From Ye Olde Broadway" from 1935 to a gouache and ink image of John Leguizamo in Sexaholix...a Love Story from 2002. 

The event will be held at Tuesday, November 13th, 6pm-9pm at The Animation Guild 1105 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank CA 91505.

This is a unique opportunity to see a number of historic works including Charley's Aunt (1940) that comes from Jose Ferrer's personal collection; Ruth Gordon and Geroge Segal in Where's Poppa? (1970); Claire Bloom And John Gielgud in Ivanov (1967); a composite of "Villains on Broadway" (1960) that includes the bad men and women from The Sound of Music, Destry Rides Again, and Once Upon a Mattress; the original production of Seven Year Itch (1952); a rare color cover from The American Mercury of Chiang Kai-Shek (1947), and a selection of illustrations for S. J. Perelman books and magazine articles.

What else? There's a young Harrison Ford in the film Force Ten from Navarone(1976); several terrific "Friday" drawings of performers on and off Broadway from 1he 1970s and 80s; Vincent Price in Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore and Frank Conrad in The Mikado (both from 1985); an homage to Japanese themes in the cast drawing of Shogun (1990); and two Star Trek drawings: Deep Space 9 andVoyager (1994).
